March is Women’s History Month—a time to recognize and celebrate women’s contributions to history, culture and society. With this in mind, March is also when Gilchrist holds its annual Honoring the Women in Our Lives Tea. It’s an opportunity for those in our community who have lost a loved one to come together to honor and remember the special women who have touched their lives.
This year’s tea will be held at Sweet Simplici-Tea in Sykesville on Saturday, March 28, 2020, beginning at 11 a.m. It is a full tea, including soup, sandwiches, scones and desserts. The event will include activities and an opportunity to share photos, mementos and memories.
What Past Attendees Are Saying
As the coordinator of the tea, I’ve heard from many how meaningful this event was to them. Here are a few words from previous attendees:
“I lost my mother—my best friend—four years ago. I have been to the tea twice now. The first time I went with my daughter. We enjoyed the speaker and the chance to share stories about my mom with the other people at our table.”
“I happily shared a picture of my mom along with a favorite memory, which was a framed recipe in her handwriting.”
“I very much enjoyed hearing others share their stories about the special women in their lives.”
“I think this event brings together those who share a similar loss, allowing us to comfort each other while celebrating these special women. I am looking forward to future teas.”
“It was a nice break from my grief … to spend time with others reminiscing with smiles while enjoying a brunch or tea I would not have gone to otherwise.”
“I’ve remembered my mom, our daycare “grandma,” and niece. It was nice to feel that these women were being honored in a month honoring other important women in history. They would be proud and flattered!”
I hope you will join us on March 28 for this special event. For more information or to register, please call 443.849.8251. There is a $25 fee per person. Registration is required.
