It seems our nation is faced with more acts of violence and death than ever before. With every tragedy, we find ourselves dealing with emotions of grief and loss in ways we never expected. Grief has become ever present in our day-to-day world. Whether a loss is sudden or expected, Gilchrist offers counseling and support services to not only the families we serve, but also the community at large.

Our grief counselors have helped individuals explore the depth of loss from homicide, suicide, natural, or accidental death. Our Steps of Hope remembrance walk is one of many events that give grievers hope and meaning. We offer workshops throughout the year to inspire participants to explore the depth of their loss and express their emotions in a safe, non-judgmental environment.

In addition to helping those in grief, we at Gilchrist Counseling and Support are a resource for professionals who directly support those impacted by acts of violence. Through the years, we have held training sessions for Crisis Responders in the School System and for professional counselors and social workers. We have also reached out to businesses in our community in which employees have faced the sudden loss of colleagues or their own loved ones.

We have gone—and will continue to go—into school systems to work with individuals and groups to offer support and help them debrief when losses have been tragic or violent. Our counselors are master’s prepared, licensed and trained to be called upon when tragedy strikes or when a loved one has died a natural death.
